WAS in Cyberspace

Whangamata Area School's School Vision:

Through a positive home school partnership our students will be confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners.

Through utilising the internet, we are able to communicate with our students, their immediate families and their family from further afield. We can share their successes, their sport, special events and their work...

WAS on Facebook

Whangamata Area School has a Facebook page where we post information regularly for students and their families. You can find it HERE.

We have found Facebook to be the most used social media site in our town and community.

Some of our junior classes have private class groups where the teacher and parents can interact. Your child's class teacher will give you information on how to join if they have a page. We keep these as 'secret' groups for privacy reasons. Parents have reported this to be a great way to see what is going on in class. The teacher is able to share photos, videos and work in progress. Some pages have family from overseas following, which is a fantastic way for grandparents and other family to keep up with children living abroad!

WAS on Youtube

Whangamata Area School has a Youtube channel you can subscribe to. We load videos up to this channel as we are very aware Facebook is only for users over 13 years old. You can find it HERE.

Many of our younger students have electronic devices and access youtube, so this is our way of helping them to see what the older students get to see on Facebook. They can share these videos with their friends and family.

Here is the new entrants class Room 9 and their Very Hungry Caterpillar story. Term 2 2015.
